Online marketing is constantly evolving. The same goes for search engine optimization (SEO). As major search engines like Google continue to tweak their algorithms, website publishers need to stay ahead of the curve so their sites don't fall in the search rankings.

So, what's the one big trend website owners need to pay attention to over the next six to 12 months? In this video, Rand Fishkin -- founder of online marketing and SEO firm Moz -- says it's Google's focus on highlighting the "natural" search experience. In other words, the way people naturally search for and interact with content, and then turn to social-media sites and other outlets to share it with others.

"Paying attention to how, when and why content is being amplified on the web can make you smart about SEO," he says.
